How Does Botox® Work?
Wrinkle relaxer injections such as Botox® function by interfering with the nerve signals that control muscle movement. When injected into targeted areas, these substances block the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine, which is responsible for muscle contractions. By preventing the muscles from receiving these signals, neuromodulators temporarily paralyze or weaken the treated muscles, reducing their ability to contract. This process leads to a smoothing effect on the skin above the treated muscles, diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The result is a rejuvenated and more youthful appearance that lasts for several months before gradually wearing off as the muscles regain their usual function.
